It's been awhile!

Wow, it's 5:30 am on a Wednesday morning, and I couldn't think of anything i'd rather do then give an update on the lives of gents in We Are Bravest. Well, we finished that full length CD, and named her Eventually. Beautiful. She's still not ready to be seen by anyone other then it's makers, but we've put up some clips of the tracks on the new album on our beloved myspace. ( www.myspace.com/wearebravest ) . On another note, we also have recorded a music video for one of the songs on our new album! I know, we've been very busy, you might have even forgot we were around! However, we are back, you just don't know it yet. So in conclusion, this next month, will be a month that will indeed, blow your socks off. So hang on tight, because it's about to get fun.

Talkin' real.

from the outside world.

hello everyone,

Lucas here! It has been awhile since I have been in the studio, resulting in a lack of blog posts from me. After reading over the recent blog posts I have realized we've only been telling you WHAT we're doing, and not giving you some sort of time line. I would like to clear up the timing issue by saying that our final date of recording is estimated to be May 9th. Of course there are little extras to throw on top of the good ol' recording timeline, like mastering and all of that fun stuff, but we will be back to booking shows after may 9th! That being said, we do have a show today in Burlington. Come check us out with Dead and Divine for free at Youthfest.

More shows posted on the myspace.
love.

Holy High Notes

Hey everyone.
I haven't posted anything yet in regards to myself or any of the recording so i thought i probably should.
Its Friday, May 1st, and I'm here with my good buddy Erik, playing Pokemon, drinking Starbucks, and eating 12'' subs.
Currently I'm singing the "Frothy Walrus"
the name walrus brings back bad memories from my childhood and the show "Pengu" in an episode where he had a nightmare regarding a walrus, and consequently i too got nightmares of that damn walrus.
Anyway, this song is full of high notes, good times, and pile-ons (that's what she said).
and tomorrow (SATURDAY MAY 2nd) is YOUTHFEST in burlington, its free! i mean, you can't get better then free, well...unless you receive something.
besides that, its FREE haha, so come out and hang out!
We might even play some new new stuff! such as the song im working on right now...the frothy...*shivers* walrus....
Alright, i gotta get back in there, time to tame this hoe.

Vocals Day 2!

Hello,

Erik here writing todays Studio Blog. It was a long long day but we got vocals done for another song! We decided to work on song 9 today and boy was it a good idea.

Jourdan sang like he has never sung before. Nicknames towards his manliness might have to be changed. Emotions were flying all over the place in the studio today. Gave me chills. Youll just have to wait to hear what im talking about.

We also got a surprise when our friend Richard from Lifestory: Monologue stopped by to say hi to Jordan and listen to some new tracks. It looked like he was lovin what he was hearing. Which brightened our day right up.

On a side note: Chicago is up 2-0 on Calgary at the moment. GO HAWKS GO!

We're back in the studio tomorrow to do some more vocals, we're hoping to take down 2 of the more familiar songs, so expect a very tired Jourdan tomorrow night!

Anyways thats all i got for now

as Johnny would say

Real Talk...or something like that

last day! (of guitars)

After four long days in the ol' woodshed we've almost finished our guitar tracks!
Gabe's just finishing up a couple parts as we speak, then we get to go late into the night together making all kinds of weird noises!
Mmhmm. It's exactly what you're thinking.

Tomorrow morning we'll wake up the young ones to start vocals and keyboards.
Adam and Jourdan will be spending hours upon hours singing songs, tinkering ivories, eating Subway sandwiches, drinking Starbucks coffee (Tim Horton's is far away), peeing on an electric fence, and maybe writing their very own studio updates.

This took me like twenty minutes to write and Gabe's still on the same part.
No surprise.

real talk.

guitars! guitars!

hey ladies!

for those of you wondering why we didn't have a post up yesterday...
we just couldn't get any typing done due to the intense shredding that occurred earlier that day.
our fingers were swollen, bloody and just plain gross.

in better news, Gabe and I have finished three songs and are just about to start the fourth.
it's been grueling to say the least! the tracking stool gets more and more uncomfortable to sit on for hours on end.

Who knows what else today will bring?
Maybe we'll all go to the mall. I don't know. I don't know if we'll have time!

real talk.

THE WEEKEND.

Hello friends,

It is time for an update! Erikson has completed the bass guitar tracks and we have begun to set up tone for les guitars. Everyone needs a weekend though, so the band has taken off Jesus day to rest and relax. If this were only the case for me! I begin working today after a long two weeks off! How I miss my "weekender" days, when I would awake on the Saturdays and Sundays and watch cartoons until the afternoon, then ride my bike until dinner time!

This blog is completely pointless in regards to our recording process. Stay tuned for guitar updates (pun entirely intended).

Bass Day 1

Hey there!

Just got home from the studio where it was bass city all day. Lots of low tones, overall great times. We worked really hard, managed to get through 5 songs in the short day. We'll push on through the rest tomorrow.

Overall its sounding really good, i can't wait to hear it all when it is finished. It's been along day though, Im so sick and probably got everyone else in the studio sick as well. I was a coughing machine.

Hopefully no one else reads this but ill probably just be staying in the for the night. Good old friday evening alone on my couch lurking facebook.

I hate being sick.

Anyways, more bass tomorrow and then its onto GUITARS! get stoked for some shreddage, as Gabe would put it.

Anyway time for me to pass out somewhere.

recording day 3

Hello!

Erik here with the blog for day 3. Something I like to call "Studio Blog 3: With A Vengeance".

After a very long exhausting day I am finally home. I can lay back, put my feet up and say hi to Wilfred Brimley. He was getting short with me for not feeding him before I left. Everything is alright now.

Let me fill you in so far, so that everyone can get caught up:

Lucas was a machine on the drum set the past 2 days and finished all the tracks in record time. It was a wondrous sight indeed. Even the troublesome evil villian team of tracks 10 and 11 were no match for his super awesome powers of awesomeness.

With Luc all finished it meant it was my turn to shine!

...tomorrow

Today I worked. If one could call it that. I spent my entire day moving pillows from one floor of my work to another. For 8 hours. Who knew moving pillows would be such hard work.

My bass tracking actually starts tomorrow and I am pretty excited. My Mac Weather Widget (MWW for short) tells me that it will be a sunny 18 degrees C tomorrow (that is a mild 64 degrees F for all you Americans). Sounds like a perfect day for bass tracking to me. Hopefully the MWW is telling the truth.

On a side note, I believe I am coming down with a slightly nasty chest cold. So Jourdan will have to stay far away for the next few days. Sorry Jourdan, no studio for you!

Also, as luck would have it I sliced open my middle finger on my fret hand today! Figures the day before I go to record I hurt my fingers. Im super glueing it as we speak so it will be in top shape for tomorrow.

That is all for now, be expecting Live Free or Studio Blog tomorrow evening sometime. I promise you it will contain actual studio happenings, unlike this blog which really had nothing to do with the studio at all.

recording day 2

hello pretties,

It is currently 10:37 pm and I am within my own atmosphere. The drum tracks have been completed after vigorous hours of beating the skins (no homo) and I am now able to sleep on my own mattress within the baby blue walls of my room.

It seems over the past two days I have begun to slowly fall into a realm of hatred for percussion. I have begun to research other instruments that I may take up in lieu of the drums. So far I have narrowed it down to the dudelsack, or simply the spoons. Currently me and my set are on a break. If this was Facebook, we would be in a relationship that is "complicated".

Let me finish up by letting you know we begin bass on Friday. Sounds REAL fun, doesn't it?
Oh, and I don't prefer raisin bran. I woke up late and the cheerios were MIA.

More gibberish to come. More eye candy to come even later.

drums day one!

Hello everyone!

We thought there was no better way to spend the long studio days than bloggin' it up!
For those of you who don't know; we're recording our full length record with Jordan Valeriote at Sundown Studios.
Jordan's a wicked producer who's done a bunch of other projects from bands around here.
(Listen to new Thunderhawks, Oceans, or anything Lifestory:Monologue has up!)

So yesterday, after an Easter slumber party and a few bowls of honey nut Cheerios (Luc prefers Raisin Bran) we made our way up to Guelph.
Gabe, Luc and I showed up around noon to load in everyone's gear (you're welcome) and get started tracking drums.
Gabe seemed to think he could watch all three Lord of the Rings movies in the first day. These movies are the longest things in the world so there was no way he was getting it done. By ten o' clock that night he wasn't even finished Two Towers yet. Foolish.

Anyways, Luc pretty much tore apart the drum tracks as well as his drums. We already have a broken snare drum and crash cymbal. He got five songs done by the time we left at 11 o'clock last night.

Right now Luc's tracking the only old song we have on the new record. Get low.
Better updates soon from better looking people!

Johnny
